Now that you mention it... the Department of Energy has been know for quite a bit of slush funding, waste, fraud and abuse, too. (And, don't get me started on Interior!)

The abolition of the DOE, Dept. of "Education" and Dept. of Commerce was once the gold standard for measuring a politician's commitment to the critical need to downsize government and keep it small.

The lack of TERM LIMITS makes elected House and Senate members EMPLOYEES of the bureaucracies they appropriate money for. Until we can send the bastards home after a REASONABLE time, they will be nothing but European-style bureaucrats-regardess of their party...
