Up here, the term is "gals."

Even the gals refer to themselves as gals.

Yes there are a lot of vain women out there cosmic, I met a lot of them in college. <g>

BTW, I heard recently that there is speculation that Carly was singing about Warren Beatty in that song. She won't say though..
