Balanced budget requirements have been proven a fraud by REPUBLICAN governors, who get into office, claim "all spending has been cut to the bone" (BURN THE FUCKING BONES, YOU MORON!!!) and thus they need to RAISE TAXES. Mitch Daniels in Indiana is the latest example of the continuing danger of a NEW epidemic of BobDole's Disease that could destroy the Republican party.

There has NEVER been a balanced budget requirement passed anywhere where the desire of the people conferring power in such a way was not to rip public employee unions, END programs, and then REDUCE TAXES. (The next state "mental hospital" built with legitimate public approval will be the first.)

Populist blank-eyed simplicity is ALWAYS a trap. The war against government cannot be sidestepped. The state that SHUTS DOWN its school system for a year will become the leading role model in the serious war against government that will mark the next phase of the New American Renaissance...

"All those against a BBA always bring up emergency or war spending."

I don't know why they would bring that up... every proposed text for a federal Balanced Budget Amendment I've seen included loopholes allowing 'temporary' deficit spending either/or if the President signed a declaration of a national emergency, or Congress declared war.
