Yes, the Mercedes quality problems have been discussed. Here's a Financial Times Germany article, for instance:

The previous responsible Mercedes manager Jürgen Hubbert resigned and was replaced by Eckhard Cordes. The main troubled line was the E class. Mercedes will invest one billion euro in restoring quality and wants to top BMW, Audi and Lexus quality.
