Bwac, so a consumption tax would actually increase the value of real estate and inflate this bubble even more?

It's time for him to retire, please.

So, a consumption tax increases real estate prices, while a property tax decreases property taxes.

If so, he's simply trying to find a way to generate more revenue for govt spending by artificially inflating assets. He's like a thief in the night.

A 15% Sales Tax on homes makes the sales price of homes decline by 15%.

You can look to Canada for the proof where each new increment of sales tax has instantly reduced prices by the same amount.

We see the same backward reasoning when lobbyists, hired by large land owners, claim development fees charged by counties drive up the price of homes.

In reality, these fees drive down the price of undeveloped land, leaving home prices unaffected.

but you would lose your interest rate deduction AND start paying taxes on the gain. Probably a desaster for re.
