I'm always amazed at the huge variation between different taxing districts in terms of RE tax rates. Here they seem like a minor nuisance that rises with inflation but I've known people who started out paying more in yearly taxes than I've paid in a year for mortgage payments for a similar house. They bought houses in districts which penalize new housing.
