There are additional labor issues as company size increases such as OSHA, Americans with Disabilities Act, benefits for salaried employees, health coverage, etc. I have never had to deal with those. In farming, some of those extras kick in when (IIRC) one has 20 full-time equivalent employees.

Regarding minimum wage, that applies to everyone AFAIK. There is a federal minimum wage, and states may have higher ones such as Oregon & Washington do. I think Oregon is the highest in the nation, but don't know for sure ($7.25/hr). Washington is about the same I think.

Maybe this is referring to those companies that move their headquarters to Belize (or wherever) where they pay hardly no taxes.

Yes, there has been lots of talk regarding this after such companies as Tyco, etc. There are lots of screwy state laws about corporate tax as well. I remember that for many years the state of CA attempted to tax HP for their worldwide business for CA state tax. I think the state gave up in the end.
