The fact a normal human being can get (more easily, less easily) manipulated, is one issue. A different issue is a risk to me, my environment, fellow humans,to my cat - a risk in quantitative sense, like in "what is the objective chance that in next 10 years" etc. Among these risks there's the big M, the used-to-be- big RJ, the still-big GM, the big-and-free-and-brave NRA etc.

But that's all risks, we accomodate to. That does not mean, the next big something will hit across the street, in Africa or on somebody else's watch instead of inside my comfort zone. But, hey, my rearview mirror tells me I am moderaly overweight, had no serious accidents last 10 years, I do smoke but I feel great etc, and I am still alive. Risks? Gimme a break...

(Personal) Fact is, the big H5N1 makes me mighty uncomfortable. Must be my work place - I do have contact with people who study these beasts...
