Although my rational mind tells me this is ridiculous, my lizard brain tells me I'm destined to Hell because I've missed so many Sunday Masses, confessions, etc. Nothing I can do about ridding my psyche of any of that bull.

You remind me of a story my father used to tell about a friend of his, a Cuban lawyer raised in Havana in the days before Castro. The lawyer became completely irreligious as an adult, even anti-clerical, and married a nice Jewish girl. One day when the couple were on holiday in Europe, there were visiting a church when the altar boy rang the bell for the ascension of the host. The lawyer found himself on his knees, with his wife looking down at him in astonishment.

He had no idea how he got there.

My Calvinistic BG still effects me. But both I and you don't let religion run our lives. Same with the Muslims. We have to remember tha the MSM likes to play up the fanatics.
