Personally I think the biggest damage a religion can do is to teach a person to ignore/deny their conscience.

Unfortunately, that seems to be the precise intent of many. To promote that "leap of faith" as all important. IE, to accept someone else's judgement totally at the expense of your own.

While I believe in faith, I very strongly oppose blind faith, or "checking your brains at the door".
