Then you're going to need intensive agriculture to prevent that. In 1900, world population was 1 billion; in 2000 it was 6 billion.

Now population control clearly has to be part of the solution, although that may not require any gov't action. As prosperity increases, birth rate drops, even reaching below replacement level.

But in spite of Granny's pipe dreams. you AREN'T going to support 6 billion people without modern agricultural techniques.
