I don't think anyone can deny the huge potential profits that would be possible by going to war.

Carnegie became rich providing steel bridges to the Union Army during the Civil War.

Many insiders seem to profit from war. Vietnam was one of those wars as you pointed out.

It's also clear that much of the Bush Administration was already fixated on Iraq...and were looking for a reason to attack. I'm not sure that they orchestrated the 9-11 attack...but they certainly made hay of the attack. They had to twist the facts to make it appear that Saddam was responsible for 9-11...and of course the WMD scare.

So I'm not sure if Bush was just being an opportunist and liar, or a conspirator too.
