I have to admit in all sincerity that I really liked bill clinton at one time. I still do like him for his gift of gab and intelligent use of charming persuation. I stop short of liking him unconditionally like Suma seems to.

You, me, and the rest of the American people were betrayed by bill. It was the most significant form of betrayal since he not only lied to us but attempted to include us as collusive participants. People can change their conduct and even their attititudes with some effort but character rarely changes without a very serious and personal catastrophy, time to consider it, and motivation to make a major commitment to change. Bill has a character flaw in the area of trust. He was definitely hit with a major personal catastrophy but I see no evidence that the man has made any commitment to do the work that could result in a change.

Trust, will always be the trump card that eliminates him from serious consideration, regardless of any other accomplishments or goodnesses that can be counted.
