So you are saying Teddy is right and Bush should get the credit for the democracy in the ME.

No, I am saying that they should stop trying to be reasonable and politically correct when things look like they are going a particular way. It looks like Bush's strategy is working. Every so often that happens in this mess.

After shock and awe, you all were calling Bush a hero and that Iraq was a huge success. A few months later, it was clear the big mess Bush had created.

Now, its the elections........they actually happened and only a few people got killed. Forget that 15% of the population refused or was afraid to participate. Forget that the party that won is theocratic and has a weak relationship to the concept of democracy. Forget that the winners also have close ties with Iran, a country who we are very close to attacking. Forget that the Kurds are not entirely happy and are pushing for more reforms. Forget that the violence continues in Iraq unabated. Forget that the electricity and most everything else is in worse shape now than before we attacked.

Kennedy and Durbin need to know when to keep their mouths shut. I suspect this recent turn towards democracy in the ME will be known in the future as the Arabs' Prague Spring.
