Its a pretty poor definition. Superfluous is very subjective. Some redundancy is beneficial, and most military spending is not on retail available items.

If you get all the toilets and coffee makers and such for 1cent a piece it won't make a big dent in the military budget.

The GOP is fond of saying that liberals act as impediments to progress. So then, how is your reaction to the pork in defense or global warming or Kyoto any different from those alleged reactions by liberals to the GOP agenda? Frankly, I don't see any difference.

The truth is defense is so bloated and fat, a non military person like myself could go in and cut fat to my heart's delight and not hit muscle. And when you think we are maintaining such a budget as the only superpower on the planet, all of us should be outraged.
