Possibly, depending on the size of the nuke and how close the explosion is. But you also have the posibility of o1 carrier battle group nuked = 1 enemy country turned in to radioactive slag.

Its not a matter of being equal. Its a matter of how well can they survive a hit. Sure if you can destroy the enemy before they can get a hit great but in war some of your tanks are going to be hit. Composite armor can be lighter for the same effectiveness but we already use it, downsizing means using less of it. How much do you want to downsize anyway? 25% less weight and 75% less weight give you very different survival possibilities.
