That sounds like an excellent idea. Let the earth gobble up the nuclear waste and deal with it naturally. I bet there are concerns about what earthquakes might do to radioactive waste placed in an area prone to earthquakes.

A very long term recycling solution that may have possibilities, but the point remains, until we have solved the nuclear waste problem, it would be insane to keep adding an increasing amount of waste to the already rapidly growing pile...

We need to create several permanent radioactive waste
storage facilities in geologically stable formations ie.
deep underground in seismically stable continental basalt
and start using them rather than have these wastes scattered
all over the country ..
