Well, if we could just find a way to eliminate fraud in Medicade and Medicare I bet we could cut costs at least 25%. Then if hospitals could be made to run more efficiently I bet another big cut in costs would be available. Finally, if the federal government just underwrote research for new drugs perhaps we could cut the pharmacy bills another 25% or more. For some reason, in this country, Hospitals seem to spend an inordinate amount on PLANT. Where my wife works it now looks like the TAJ MAHAL, yet they have such a shortage of nurses, likely due to low pay, that they have to turn patients away!! 20 years ago this hospital wasnt fancy on the outside but they had plenty of nurses. Today, its mirror lakes, fancy new buildings, huge auditorium etc etc etc. jdn

Then it makes you an impractical business man.

1. Look to Canada for a national health care model.

2. Do you really think govt. management will bring efficiency?

3. One way to reduce individual cost is to provide options for catastrophic coverage only, or very large deductibles.

4. Tort reform WILL go a long way to reduce cost.

5. You generally get what you pay for.

6. Justice? Fair? As defined by who?

I think we must go to a national health system. That doesn't make me a socialist but a business man that wants to minimize health benefit expenses. How do you propose providing health care in the future? The way we are today it is less and less affordable for all. We must cut costs, and no tort reform will not make a very big dent and may put the government in a position that compromises justice.
