And Shia. The anti-Syria crowd is probably all Christian and Sunni. From the little I have read, it looks as if Hezbollah has been given pretty free reign inside of Lebanon by Syria. Given all the brotherly love generally expressed between the Shia and Sunnis mean that the Sunnis probably aren't happy with the situation.

Hmmm, sounds like a recipe for strong US support for our Sunni allies in Lebanon, which could then become a lever to pressure our Shia allies in Iraq.....wait a minute...

"The "pro-Syria" crowd is so anti-Israel that my hunch is they are virtually all Muslim"

Interesting. I didn't realize the Christian group was as big as it is..........40% of the population. No wonder the civil war went on for so long. And Shia must barely be the majority because the remaining 60% also include Druze, Sunnis, and other assorted religions.

I think it would be best if all the Lebanese protestors went home and then back to work. They are too diverse a population to be having all these demonstrations. No wonder everyone is so worried that the civil war will break out again.
