I haven't seen that on this thread. The ban list here has been accumulated for mostly petty offenses, in my opinion. Some of the offending posts were insults, some were just annoying. But nothing like we've seen at other threads.

If SI intervened when people act badly they'd be intervening all the time. That's why I've always said there is almost nothing you can do when someone decides to follow you around and post to you, or post about you, and refuses to stop. You can ask, but obviously some folks aren't going to listen (it's a very small percentage thank goodness, but as we've seen, it certainly exists)- and there you are (and it's also why moderated threads are nice, since they do offer an escape from people who simply cannot or will not stop trying for contact.)

Bill obviously thinks one ought to tolerate a lot more annoying and insulting posts than I do. The nice thing about SI is that he can have his own thread and run it just the way he wants, and Grainne can have hers and run it the way she wants, and we can choose the level of civility on Bill's thread or Grainne's thread, or we could post on both, or neither (assuming we're not banned). People like different levels of civility, and banning allows them to have that. If you don't like the way a thread is run, go somewhere else and run one yourself- although I don't see why it is necessary to bitch about the thread you can't, or don't want to post on. The most I would think you would EVER need to say, is, perhaps to say elsewhere (to someone who posts to you on such a thread) "Sorry, I can't reply to you on that thread, but this is what I wanted to say..."

Anything more than that is unncessary. imo
