It seemed too funny this morning but when I am in a more sedate mood, we will talk about it some more. She has boogie man dreams to. I've told her to confront the bad guys in the dream or to look for me in the dreams, because I can whup a whole army of bad guys in dreams ... She can't seem to get that worked out. Its hard for me to relate, since I started kickin' butt on bad guys in dreams 40 years ago and haven't been bothered since. For now it seems to work if I just hold her hand till she goes back to sleep.

You need to condition her. I suggest starting with movies such as the Terminator or Predator series. That may do the trick. I believe the Alien series is too strong for a sever-year-old. Might want to wait until her next birthday before introducing her to the things that go bump in the night and try to disembowel Sigourney Weaver.

The problem is she is asleep dreaming there is something under her bed. When she wakes up she is fully aware and fully frightened until she realizes she is back in her familiar surroundings.

I think what you told her was the exact right thing to say.

If you're going to read bedtime stories or movies try ones where the good guy wins and the bad guy is demolished but not violently like the Terminator, Predator and Alien series.

The most important thing you can do is enroll her in a for kids martial arts program.

Jewel, since she is afraid that something or someone bad is under her bed, you might arrange for her to sleep directly on the floor for a while, say, in a sleeping bag or such. Just a suggestion. No, I am not being facetious. - Holly

If she wore shoes to bed would that stop the guy under the bed from looking at her feet?
