actually sarbanes oxley regulation is a hot area for enterprise software now. Its really not that hot but it is the only area where you can still get any kind of sales. I think most of these companies will go out of business because there is really no there there. What these packages allow you to do is "lock" certain files and maintain audit trails of who changed things. You could probably accomplish the same tasks by putting your entire business on a share drive but most companies don't do that. This software borders on document software from documentum and legato so I think its not a separate space.
