I'd also like to comment on those who claim that the left wants the US to fail, and seems to delight in our failures (including US casualties). Some on the right (e.g. Coulter) take this as a sign that the left is hoping that our troops are killed and maimed. An analogy would be if you warned your friends that they were letting their children do something dangerous (e.g. running with scissors). They don't listen, and then the child puts her eye out. You want to scream "I told you so", but are still horrified by the consequence. And when they continue to let their other children run around with scissors, the anger and disbelief you feel is tremendous...
