another thing to consider is that if foreigner are holding say 3 trillion in gov bonds, the interest at 4% is 120 bill . This is part of the current account deficit.

The earnings of foreign subsidiaries in the US are also part of current account deficit. How much does Sony, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda etc make all together.

US aid/charity to foreigners is also part.

Trade therefore is only part of the 600 bill yearly deficit.
