I agree with you.

At this particular time and place for this person, though, that was not the case. This was back in the day when women managers were rare and when women didn't think they could do it. This was when "Games Mother Never Taught You" was first published.

I take a certain amount of pride at having been a role model and mentor during my career. Back in those days, women who made it often were insecure or selfish and played the "queen bee" role, consciously or unconsciously holding back others. I considered employee development a big part of my job.

Fortunately, those days are behind us. Women climbing the ladder today don't remember those difficult times.
