C2, What about Dr Jacobs award? Should he have declined it? Or are American awards good, and English ones bad [hangover of the American revolution]? Google finds plenty of USA awards, medals and honors. For example: congressionalgoldmedal.com It seems that Americans run empires, issue awards, medals and honours, just like the British Empire with King George at the helm. I think American support for the hideous IRA was in part because Americans have a legacy mindset that "the British are coming" and there's a war to be fought against them. Celebrating 4 July every year keeps the mindset in place. Mqurice
