Nope.

Still, the official position of the Italian government is that:

1) they had permission from US authorities for the rescue.

2) permission to travel to the airport, and permission to travel on the road to the airport.

3) were instructed to travel with their lights on, to aid in their identification.

4) had come to a full stop in the road before the military roadblock, and were flashing their lights as instructed.

Perhaps the official investigation of the incident (now with an Italian military officer appointed to the US investigating panel) will answer the questions surrounding this event.
