Either Cisco is expecting their stock to go lower, or Cisco has already lowered the amount of options granted.

The later case is much more likely.

Haven't followed the whole thread, but its not a question of might, it is now a requirement starting this year.

You are probably right. Here's the other thing to consider. Cisco stock price volatility has come down quite a bit since years past. Also, Cisco may start toying with increasing the vesting period as other companies have done. Then add to that, a lower expectation of future growth, and you have all the ingredients for a much lower expense number.

Much magic is done with options, my friend. Anyone who has ever traded them knows that.

And if they don't, the guys at CBOE will be glad to teach them. :-)
