it also gives us some sense of control over our legislatures. we get to feel like we are really voting on some key issues.

i wonder if we need congress to vote on bills when they come to the floor. didn't we have representatives to and senators go to Washington to handle our affairs as we see them...

Now that the internet is here why can't we vote directly on bills and eliminate more congressmen and their staffs and their big time budgets. Perhaps all we need is someone to meet in committee and write the bill proposals.
