I was lucky if my mom baked a sheet cake and took my friends to the park. That said, it is FUN planning birthdays, and if you have the creativity, time, and disposable income, it's not a bad way to spend the time. What are we but our memories? And fun times make good memories. I will let you know what happens at the book store. Just in case they are planning on buying the kids books as party favors I bought a larger than average gift certificate for the birthday girl. I've noticed that the value of gifts for birthdays has gone up in our area- at least judging by the gifts my children have received. 20 dollars used to be standard, now it's more.
