This will be astounding if it happens. The cooperation, I mean. Never happen with our move into Iraq. The blatancy of killing Hariri is the trigger, but the rising of the Lebanese is due largely to Iraq.

In Iraq, France decided to oppose the US for reasons of both profit and prestige. Lebanon is a different case. France does not profit from Syria (that I know of), and would profit more from Lebanon if Syria weren't stealing the money. It has no scruples about interfering in any of its former colonies. Moreover, Hariri was a personal friend of Jacques Chirac.

Also Chirac has had some time to reflect on the results of his opposition to the US in 2003. Maybe he's figured out that if you can't beat'em, join'em.
