Actually we also have two larger dogs as well (a Sheltie and a Golden Retriever). None of them eats any tidbits off the table. They do love fruits and vegetables and salad, and often get grated raw carrots or cooked peas with their dinner. They eat lots of beans and lentils and brown rice, along with flax oil and dog vitamins. The Golden has a seizure disorder and is being treated with phosphorus (a homeopathic remedy), Chinese herbs and acupuncture. I recently discovered a supplement that ensures they will get all the nutrients they need without eating meat, so sometimes I make their dog food out of lentils. They really love it when I do that. They also get human grade, all natural kibble made from fish and potatoes, mostly. Most American dog food is made from horrible ingredients like euthanized cancerous corpses of dead pets, and rancid meat byproducts and filler. I have no idea why anyone would feed these things to their pets.
