"He appealed to the humanity in people to see M. as a person who was very ill and not put him through the vindictiveness of the Court system, hateful prosecutor and machinations that were currently going on."

Hi, Suma! I think I have heard this rabbi speak before on a cable news show. I thought he seemed really nice, but I don't agree with what he says about Michael Jackson at all.

I have thought Michael was very ill for a long time. When he paid off that young boy in 1993--gave him $20 million or so--I did not think that was the behavior of an innocent man. Child molesters just disgust me! My daughter was ten at the time and really loved his music, but we got out our collection of his albums and stomped them into the ground and threw them in the trash. I won't support people who hurt children in any way.

It sounds like Michael has drug and alcohol problems, at the very least. That is too bad, but what has been totally lacking in his life is accepting responsibility for his own behavior. Yes, his father destroyed his self-esteem and robbed him of his childhood. But Michael had ample means once he became an adult to get treatment for his emotional problems. Everyone says he is really intelligent. He did not have any problems that are incurable. He is not psychotic. All sorts of people are damaged by their parents, but some of them do recover, and he had a chance to do that. A good therapist could have treated him and helped him build emotional health, so he could repair what happened in his childhood and make a transition to adulthood. He should also have separated himself from his father--broken away--instead of have his body carved up and mutilated because of the things his father said about his nose, etc.

While I have sympathy for people who are mentally ill, I have none at all once they cross the line and harm others. No child ever really totally recovers from being sexually molested. If Michael did this, I hope he gets the maximum term in prison.
