Re: It wouldn't surprise me if the Brussels Sprout or one of the other nuts here says that Mossad agents secretly hypnotize suicide bombers to attack Shiites to start a civil war in Iraq.

You may be onto something here... As a matter of fact, the US is waging an urban guerilla warfare in Iraq... that means that every civilian --both male and female (see the French Algerian war)-- that peacefully passes by a US checkpoint might actually be an "off-duty insurgent"... US troops just can't tell who's friend and who's foe... The hastily whipped-up Iraqi police force is very likely infiltrated by anti-US informants... and all the while, US troops get shot at, bombed, sniped, and raked by the insurgency... Remember what the Germans used to do, back in 1940-44, when French résistants shot down a German officer: they just got fifteen to twenty innocent Frenchmen from the local village lined up and shot. Well, in today's Iraq, crawling with dozens of embedded and freelance reporters, such a policy of cold-blooded reprisals wouldn't be wise, would it? Yet, another way, as expedient and blind as the Germans's, for the US to drain the "insurgency swamp" in Iraq is simply to blow up the insurgents' likely venues: mosques, recruitment stings, etc. I guess US troops have the know-how to remotely set off car-bombs? Then you just blame the whole bloody mess on pro-Saddam terrorists and Bob's your uncle!

Did I hear you say "dirty war"?
