Russ the indexes mask how bad the underlying market really is. Unfortunately I am not aware of any index to easily confirm this but looking at the new high/new low lists daily as well as constantly looking at hundreds of small cap stocks outside of transportation, oil & natural resources, housing and financials pretty much confirms it for me. The 16+ year bull market for stocks where a rising tide lifted all boats ended as early as 1998.

Russ, any details on the Japanese trade net surplus ?
I dont refer to US-Japan bilateral
but to over national net surplus changes

kind of urgent here to get details
heard a couple weeks ago of a 60% drop in given month
unsure what the figure pertained to

do you have any good info on this?

many thanks, jim
