I should add that I believe multiple core CPUs are the future, and I have no doubt about that. In the end, there will too many benefits compared to the cost increment. The transition will be relatively slow, however, probably a tad slower then the adoption of high single core processors up to now (esp. if they are a lot more expensive).

But eventually, in a year or two I'd guess, they will simply be the trickling down high end and eventually they will sit at the 100-150 dollar price point and be 80% more efficient in multiprocessing than what's out there now.
