Housing has nearly doubled since I left. Though there is no income tax, real estate taxes are sky high. The cost of homeowner's insurance...holy cow. Gas seems to be higher compared to neighboring states...and I saw an ad running on TV referencing a real estate tax crisis. I wanted to come back and buy a summer home, but... hey, come on: FL is still cheap! You get a great place down around the middle Keys between Islamorada and Marathon at a reasonable price compared to other hot areas of the US. In ZipCode 92107 where we live in San Diego housing doubled within the last 5 years. From a higher level that is... FL middle Key is still one of my favorite US places and next comes Alaska. Absolutely gorgeous! Taro
