All I know is that these are dangerous times and I watching things very closely. In every nation's history, there are those rare times where its course can be changed almost on the pivot of a dime. I think we are in one of those times.

I agree.

No matter how good (or evil) I think Karl Rove is, I think George W. Bush's second term was an accident of history. By that, I mean, Osama Bin Laden had more to do with his victory than anything else. If it were not for OBL, there was no chance for George W. Bush to be re-elected.

But, that is history for you. Big changes occur by happenstance. George W. Bush is changing the nature of our country and our civilization.

But, I do not believe he is a "big" enough character to be more than a footnote in history.

IMO, he is going against the intentions of the founders of our country and he is going against the general direction of western civilization.

I think our country stands on much firmer grounder than to allow a George W. Bush to change its course. There is no chance that George W. Bush will meaningfully alter the course and direction of western civilization. The best that he can do is to slow things down a bit. But, of course, for a person of Bush's caliber to even be able to do that, that is an enormous achievement on his part. That is just happenstance.
