In Software Utopia, that would be pretty and nice. However, if I were a site owner whose marketing revenue depended on eyeballs (and whose pitch to advertisers is based on page views and eyeballs), I wouldn't want people leaving my site inadvertently, and potentially not getting back. Or getting too inconvenienced in the process of trying to find their way back that they give up.

A user here has to find their way back through what can be sometimes be a myriad of links and re-directs from clicking on a link that takes them outside the site. It's actually easier for users to just close an open window that went to an external link, rather than have to figure out where they left off in a 100 post/per day thread via back button, or starting over from bookmark ... the original window is still there and hasn't been mucked with.

They should just be normal links, well it must be something on the server side as it is the same outcome for Netscape or IE...

To me it's as aggravating as when I am on site and a client's PC is set to open everything in a new window.... 6 directories deep... 6 bloody windows and 5 to close...

How do folks work that way ? :O)
