Re: Nearly, a third operate like my state does. It seems there should be some consistency on this issue.

Progressives always argue that ex-felons should be granted the full rights of citizenship once they've paid their "debt" to society.

Fascist and aristocratic policy makers (eg. Bushies) see disenfranchisement as one of the key tools to prevent real democracy from ruining their control of society.

It would be interesting to see how people would vote on this issue. We'd probably see the traditional Red State vs. Blue State dichotomy on this.

If you get consistency through states agreeing to operate the same way than fine, but I don't think there should be a imposition of a federal solution in this area.
