I think Lizzie is comfortable right now. She has an injection site sarcoma. I don't think most people realize that there is a cancer risk from injections. There is a new serum that doesn't have this potential problem, but it is very much more expensive and not much in demand apparently because people DON'T know about it, so it is hard to get and not offered by many vets. All our other pets are now a few months overdue for their vaccinations because I need to do some more research before any of them gets any more shots. They are all much younger, though.

We are watching her to make sure she is happy. If she stops being interested in food or vomits or isn't really mobile or has seizures, that will indicate she isn't happy anymore. At the moment, the lump is growing, but slowly. When I can tell she doesn't feel good, we will have a vet come to the house and give her a sedative and then euthanize her, because I don't want the last half hour of her life to be a scary car ride and all the smells of the vet's office.

She has spent her whole life living mostly on my body. She is usually curled up purring, clinging to my shoulders when I am on the computer, and she sleeps on my head every night. She has had a very happy life, and is still enjoying sunning herself on the roof and making those wild pagan sounds when she sees a bird. We do let our cats go out because both of them were born before it was even popular to keep them in, and I think you have to start that as kittens or the cats will be very unhappy. We have always lived on streets with very little traffic in neighborhoods where everyone has pets and is very careful of them. No coyotes here, though.
