Hi John!

I almost never have cash in my PF. Firstly because I always have more targets that I want to buy then cash to do the buying, so when I sell something it is very easy for me to rotate the cash right into something else. But also because I treat my investments like a bank account, and I know when the time comes I can sell something to have the cash I need. For example, I need to raise $18,000 to buy out the other half of the equity in my house from a friend, and that means selling stock. Unfortunately, that is like giving up a child for adoption. Which one do you let go when you have such high hopes for all of them?

cheers!

Different soul, different prayer.

I almost always have at least 20% cash, sometimes more. I like to go "all cash" at times (usually the wrong ones, LOL).

It's nice being all cash and just watching for things to come to you. I waited a long time for SSO to bottom out, but now I have 15% of my PF in it, and am quite comfortable hanging onto it for a while.

Whatever works for you.

10-15% cash at all times I think it depends upon the market at the time... In some markets tyke is right... cash is a limp squid... at others it is king...
