We are there for three strategy goals, i.e. empire, oil and mercenary services for the Likud Party.

I highly recommend two excellent books on why the U.S. is and will continue to be mired down in Iraq for decades to come. The first is the clear-headed Chalmers Johnson book, "The Sorrows of Empire", tinyurl.com and the second is the remarkably lucid "Oil, Power & Empire" by Larry Everest, tinyurl.com
