Very interesting, thanks for your thoughts. It seems, that the Neocons in the USA have come out as militaristic, fascist, neo-colonialists. They want to pump up US military power, militarize space and blanket the ME with American hegemony. Granted they're a small group of individuals but they do have a ridiculous amount of influence in the US right now. Are they a legacy from Hitler's Germany and the violence in Israel over the last two generations or is this just a small group of power hungry individuals in it for their own personal profit? Is it significant that many of them are Jewish or is it just coincidence? That their ideas fit so well with the ambitions of a bible-thumping methodist aristocrat is very curious. It is just as curious as the bible-thumping fundamentalists who vehemently support Israel and go on vacations there hoping fervently to see Israel destroyed by God at some future date. Then again it's also strange to see the world's largest 'communist' country embracing the world's largest capitalist retailer. The world has gone loopy.

As we've debated before here, establishing the Jewish state in Israel at the center of three major wold religions and displacing Palestinian Arabs played right into the hands of the fundamentalist Jews who still see it as the first step in the prophecies coming to pass. It's got to be one of the most poorly thought out, guilt-driven decisions ever made. It's pretty hard to get rational thought out of someone who believes God is smiling on his actions. We've got fundamentalist Christian end-timers here in this country aligned with the fundamentalist Jews, nevermind that unless the Jews accept Christ they will be "left behind" for the "tribulations", never to experience "the rapture"! Nevertheless, the Jews are THERE (with over 200 nuclear bombs!) and so are a lot of Palestinains. I guess my most hopeful moment for the whole can of worms until lately was just before Itzak Rabin was shot by an Israeli. That's when the right took over in Israel.
