"Cause now a days it's like a Badge of Honor/To be a Baby Mama." American Idol winner and unwed teenage mother Fantasia

You said a mouthful here:

there is so much in our culture that does the opposite. "Oh, you're expecting. How lovely."

A week ago there was a story in the paper about a study of teen sexual activity in Arizona. It said researcher found it "puzzling" that the rate of sexual activity was over twice as high among hispanic teens who only spoke English as compared to ones who only spoke Spanish. What's puzzling about that? It's no secret our popular culture models irresponsible sexual behavior in movies, TV, music, etc. Should an effect on impressionable young people be a surprise?
