This is more likely than you think as there will be more boomers with parents to house as well as returning children who will need housing if things get ugly.

Don't be surprised to see a new American version of the illegal-immigrant-extended-family-under-one-roof concept we are so accustomed to in those communities. Very few of the zoning provisions apply to family group housing. As a contractor, I assure you that there is already a lot of this going on to provide non-complying rental units in one family areas. Unless the buildings are set up with completely separated living areas and separate utilities metering these are rarely noticed by building inspectors or tax assessors.
