What do you think about the personal debt buildup in America and Canada too if people are going into hock up there also?

It is my sense that personal debt in the US is becoming frightening however I suspect that the division between haves and have nots is growing. I do not know what that will do to social structure going forward but suspect it is not very healthy.

Cdn personal debt as I understand it is less pronounced but undoubtedly is growing also. I peceive govt. obligations to debt in Canada are being more constructively met and tolerated by the CDN masses. Again, that is my perception of the situation but I don't know the hard numbers upon which to back up my suspicions.

I'm sure Canadas susceptibility to consequences of bad economics in the US are no doubt pronounced given Canadas large dependence on US financial health to Canadas wellbeing. I know Cdn govt. understands this and suspect that by and large Cdn citizens are aware of this fact also.

There is litle room for smugness in Canada at the prospects of our neighbour bordering on severe problems. Our financial health still depends to a great extent on your financial health.

I believe that CDN prosperity and financial security in the future is dependant upon our diversification of trade and our openess to global tolerance and accomodation.

Cheers
