I'd agree that a way to make money is to buy expensive stocks that happen to be of very high quality.

The best is to buy very cheap stocks that become high quality in the next 2-3 years. This, however, is really, really, really tough.

Some examples would have been AAPL two years ago, VCLK three years ago, CMVT three years ago. These stocks traded at about net cash (CMVT and VCLK went below net cash), and are now at 25x to 35x next twelve months earnings.
