Kodiak, I like the steps in your post but I've likened things to a golf game with only 3 factors. I compare the FA and macroeconomic stuff to the drive shot, the TA to the fairway wood or iron shot and the actual trading being like the putting. Arguing FA is superior to TA or vice versa is as productive as saying the drive from the tee box is more important than the putting. Truth be told, I usually have a good drive when I golf and then screw up my game with a 2-3 putt on the green. Overall performance is optimized when all three are done right.
