Kb,

I don't want to be talking past each other. I made the observation to sharpen and clarify specifically thosequestions and market processes that troubled me. It is more than an intellectual game. The answers, in the fundamental domain, certainly would affect trading and profits. It is just that the over-arching discussion point was not, "How can we make money?"

I appreciate that question has many answers. There are various situational opportunities and strategies. Some relate to options and others to techs. Some are LR positions or mutual funds, others are mere flipping within 2-3 minutes. We can discuss those issues, but as you've noted, the topics are really too large for this board.

I've repeated asked basically the same question. It is very direct and narrow. Simply put, save dividends, what is the methodology for you, me, the market, the funds, etc., to determine the ROOT, base value of a stock? What is the price below which (save for nano-second in a broadly traded stock) a stock will not fall because of its base, root, fundamental value?

If we can answer this, I believe we will have a much better understanding of "risk" and it should help us from making poor trades, i.e., those in which we sold too soon, or not soon enough.

Perhaps the readers do not have an answer to my question.

I've asked very specific questions about FA, charts, and stocks like FDG, Peyto, Harvest, and XOM. Why do O/G stocks have lower PE's than Google, Apple, etc. I have yet to hear a specific reply. msg22901 and others....
